The following is a self-description I wrote previously for a different match site which I’ve since updated. It and the following Match Description remain the most authentic expressions of who I am and who I would be interested in meeting.
My Description:
I currently live in Mechanicsburg, PA but I’m a congregant of an adjoining parish. In my youth I had twelve years of Catholic education and my adult formation was influenced most by the Benedictine Order.
I'm a bookish, retired member of the military with a degree in biology who enjoys a good adventure. Not quite the Indiana Jones type but I’ve been willing to give almost anything a try.
I’ve also enjoyed doing things like teaching algebra to my fellow G.I.s and getting other's to go skydiving with me.
I grew up in a big city but have an earthy side to myself. I've never been, nor wanted to be, part of the "cool" crowd. I certainly like most geeky movies and enjoy New Age music but also enjoy theater, classical concerts, and prior to COVID treated myself to the opera once a year. The circle of friends I grew up with were known as people who wanted to swallow the world whole (poor as we were). If you're the type who can't get enough of the good, fun, and interesting things the world has to offer then you would have fit right in.
Discussing a great work of literature with friends gives me much pleasure. If you like playing the game of GO - you're a goddess!
My favorite quote: "People don't fall in love; they grow in love."
If I could shadow someone for a day it would be Dean Kamen or
Elon Musk.
For those familiar with the MBTI, I'm a INFJ / INTJ overlap.

I admire most someone who exhibits “Gravitas” i.e. dignity, self-possession, and seriousness of purpose (without being grim).
I value a happy person who is not self-absorbed but rather is outwardly directed and who cares for and relates to people at a deep level.
I easily relate to people who are broad readers with a sense of exploration and adventure; people equally intrigued by technology as well as ideas, and who are joyful when they can satisfy their curiosity.
I respect people (whether religious or not) who understand the place of religion in human life and society.
I enjoy the company of good communicators who have instilled a sense of poetry into their lives and value the clarity and beauty that can come from language.
A creative, college educated, non-smoker with no tattoos or excessive piercing - now that would be a most welcome set of traits.
